1. Fine Mesh Pre-Filter

The reusable fine mesh pre-filter acts as the first protective layer of the WINIX 5520 filtration system. It captures larger airborne particles, including visible dust, pet hair, and lint, before they reach the main filtration media.

By collecting larger particles, the pre-filter helps limit dust accumulation on the downstream filters and supports proper airflow.

Recommended Maintenance Schedule

The reusable fine mesh pre-filter should be cleaned approximately every 14 days using a vacuum cleaner or soft brush to remove accumulated dust, lint, and pet hair. Remove the filter carefully before cleaning and ensure it is completely dry before reinstalling.

The AOC activated carbon filter is non-washable and should generally be replaced approximately every 12 months. Regular replacement helps maintain effective odour adsorption and filtration performance.

The True HEPA filter is also non-washable and should generally be replaced every 12 months, depending on usage, indoor air quality, and the filter replacement indicator. Avoid brushing or vacuuming the delicate HEPA filtration media.

PlasmaWave technology is an electronic air-treatment system and does not require routine filter cleaning or periodic cartridge replacement.

How to Replace the WINIX 5520 Air Filter

1. Turn Off the Air Purifier: Switch off the unit and disconnect it from the power supply.
2. Remove the Front Panel: Carefully open the front cover to access the filtration compartment.
3. Remove the Existing Filters: Take out the reusable fine mesh pre-filter, AOC activated carbon filter, and True HEPA filter.
4. Prepare the Replacement Filters: Remove all protective packaging from the new filtration components.
5. Install the True HEPA Filter: Position the compatible True HEPA filter at the rear of the filtration compartment.
6. Position the AOC Carbon Filter: Place the activated carbon filter in front of the HEPA filter.
7. Refit the Pre-Filter: Secure the reusable fine mesh pre-filter at the front and close the panel.
8. Reset the Filter Indicator: With the purifier switched on, follow the manufacturer's filter reset procedure for the specific model.
